Einstein’s Day Out
Einstein was a little bully dog (maybe bull dog, maybe pit, maybe neither) who was a complete love bug. He was completely the opposite of the horrible bully breed stereotype. He was mellow, affectionate, and gentle. If other dogs started trouble, Einstein would never get involved, he would just try to chill everybody out. Because of his looks, though, he was at the shelter for ages before he found a perfect forever home.
My friends and I decided he needed a day out, and got permission to take him hiking one Sunday. He had such a great time and he really deserved it! His favorite part was the drive home - he was all tuckered out and crashed on Emily’s lap with a satisfied grin!
About a month after this he finally found a family that was willing to see past he looks and he is now happily adopted! Yay Einstein!

Poor sweet girl had a bad ear job. Why are people so awful sometimes?

Lily: Not a Doberman
We found Lily at a Doberman rescue, strangely enough. The rescue didn’t have proper housing for little dogs and when we arrived she was outside in the dirt with a few other non-dobie mutts. We thought she was part Mexican hairless, since she only had hair around her face and legs with a few dreaded strands on her body. Her ears were much too big for her face, and her bones were popping out all over her body. She was so ugly that she stole my heart. She was also terribly sweet and mellow and so we took her home to be a gift for my mother.
For a few weeks she wouldn’t come out from under a table in the corner, and we would just lay on the floor and talk sweetly to her and give her treats, being as patient as we could. Eventually she came out and slowly warmed up to being one of the sweetest, silliest, and strangest dogs we have ever had. She was really…”quirky” haha. Plenty of personality. Soon she fattened up and much to our surprise, she grew a full body of hair! She actually turned out to be pretty cute!
Shanti, who I found in a woodpile on the side of my house when he was just a wee fuzz ball, and now has been a great friend to me for over 10 years <3
